Trying to connect JBL Flip 4 to Flip 5? Having hard time connecting them? The JBL Flip 4 and Flip 5 are Bluetooth speakers. The best thing about these wireless speakers is that they can be connected to other speakers to give the sound a good boost.
These speakers bring a noticeable positive change when connected to other speakers. Therefore, most of us try to connect Flip 4 to the upgraded version “Flip 5” rather than other speakers to get a good sound. Both wireless speakers have Bluetooth, however, still they are harder to connect.
How to connect the JBL Flip 4 to Flip 5?
For the record, you can not connect Flip 4 to Flip 5. That’s the reason why you are having a hard time connecting them.
This is sad but true. Since this connection can not be made, I can not suggest anything.
JBL Flip 4 and Flip 5 are not meant to be connected
The JBL Flip 4 and Flip 5 have been made to be connected to other speakers to play music in stereo or party mode. However, the two wireless speakers are not meant to be connected at all.
Though both speakers have Bluetooth and support wireless connection, still there is no way you can connect them. So, if you need to get a better sound you have to connect them to some compatible speakers.
Why Can’t You Connect the JBL Flip 4 to Flip 5?
What I understood after examining the speaker, reading the manual, and searching for the reason, is that the JBL 5 has a party boost format/protocol. Whereas, the older version JBL 4 uses connect plus protocol.
For these speakers to be connected, these speakers need to have the same format. Therefore, these two speakers can not be connected.
If JBL Flip 4 and 5 both either had the party boost or the connect plus protocol, they could be connected. However you can connect JBL 5 and JBL 4 with android.
Now that these speakers can not be connected, what should you do?
You can not connect Flip 4 to Flip 5, however, Flip 4 can be connected to other JBL speakers.
The JBL Flip 4 can be paired with JBL Charge 4 or JBL Maia Extreme 2 as they support connect plus. Besides Maia Extreme 2 and the JBL Charge 4 speaker, the Flip 4 can be connected to another Flip 4 but sadly not to Flip 5.
The Flip 5 can not be connected to any JBL speaker other than another Flip 5 at the moment because no other JBL speakers support the party boost feature so far.
